MORE working age migrants in Australia possessed academic or trade qualifications in 2010-11 than people born in Australia (66 per cent for migrants, 56 per cent for Australian born), according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS).
The Learning and Work, Australia 2010-11 report indicated that the proportion of working age migrants who were at least 15 years old when they arrived in Australia and who had already completed a degree has tripled, rising from 15 per cent in the early 1990s to 44 per cent in the last five years.
Almost one third of adult migrants (32 per cent) attained a qualification after arrival in Australia.
